The inaugural ENISA Cybersecurity Awareness Raising Conference in Slovenia brought together representatives from 27 European countries to explore the human side of cybersecurity. With 13 talks and a panel discussion, the event covered topics like the psychology of cybercrime, demographic-specific strategies, and gamified approaches to cyber awareness

Dr. Hazel Murray of Cyber Skills presented her team’s work on Cyber Safety for Older Adults, part of a project funded by Research Ireland. She shared insights into the unique challenges this group faces, including losing six times more money to scams than younger people, often with no way to recover it. Emotional barriers, like embarrassment over digital skills, further isolate older adults in the digital world.
To tackle these issues, the team developed a card game and physical pamphlets tailored to older adults' preferences, helping them build confidence and navigate online spaces safely.
The conference showcased innovative solutions and fostered collaboration to make cybersecurity more inclusive across the EU.
