The Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau recently launched a new booklet that delves into cybercrime prevention tips and the risks for both individuals and businesses. This booklet serves as an excellent tool for raising awareness about various types of cybercrimes and provides cybersecurity advice to help owners of IT systems minimize cyber-related risks.

While the booklet does not cover all risks and forms of hacks and cybersecurity concerns, it does highlight some of the core information on the subject, including the techniques that cybercriminals use and steps you can take to protect yourself and your business.

  • The booklet addresses a critical aspect of cybersecurity for businesses, stating that "there are two types of companies: those that have been the target of a cyberattack and those that will be." In an ever-changing market, cybercriminals are constantly evolving their tactics and will find a way to breach your systems if you fall behind. It is important to understand that the best way to protect your data is to do your best to prevent an attack for as long as possible.
  • The "Cyber Crime Risks and Prevention Tips" booklet echoes this sentiment and covers some prevalent ways a hacker can breach your systems and how to prevent it. For example, it touches on malware, social engineering, cyber-enabled crimes, along with smaller scams and manipulation tactics.

Read the booklet to protect yourself and your business from some of the more prevalent threats facing people today. Be sure to visit the Garda Cyber Crime page for more information.
