The MTU and UCC student Xperience camp was held at MTU. It facilitated first year secondary school students to explore the campus and different career choices including cyber security.

First year secondary school students engaged in an interactive session featuring the Virtual Escape Room and tabletop simulation. These students had to immerse themselves in different departments of a large company and solve challenges together.

In the Escape Room, students worked together to solve the written tasks in their individual lockboxes and obtain the prize in the group lockbox. After they had completed the Escape Room challenge, the students were introduced to the tabletop simulation, where they strategized on how they would defend their company and resolve any cyber-related attacks.

All four teams of students approached each of the tasks, in their own unique way. They demonstrated great problem solving and teamwork, operating both within and outside their designated departments. It is wonderful to see young people engaging with cybersecurity, and hopefully, these activities have inspired at least one person to pursue a career in cybersecurity later in life.

A great way to start pursuing a career in cybersecurity, is to sign up for the Cyber Futures Cyber Security Academy in June tailored for transition year students. Visit https://lnkd.in/eRHfZyY8 to sign up now.
