Cyber Explore at MTU, hosted at the Nimbus Research Centre, is on a mission to strengthen the security of Ireland’s digital assets and resilience of its critical infrastructure.

Its core aim is to securely blend the digital world with the physical world, protecting everyone and making systems more resilient to cyber security by fostering skills, research, and innovation.

Cyber Explore undertakes many cyber security projects, addressing all stages of technological development. These initiatives benefit from varied partnerships and funding, including Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers/Partnerships, Science Foundation Ireland National Challenge Fund, Research Training and Research Centres, SEAI, Horizon Europe, and Digital Europe.

A key aspect of Cyber Explore is its investment in infrastructure for cutting-edge research and training. This has led to a unique national cyber-range infrastructure – a collaborative effort between MTU, UL, and TU Dublin to create a top-class training and research facility in Ireland.

As well as advancing cyber security research, it fosters collaboration and innovation, enhancing digital security infrastructure across key sectors in Ireland and Europe.

Cyber Explore looks to keep Ireland at the forefront of fighting complex and evolving cyber threats by developing innovative research and solutions. The research entity solidifies MTU’s cyber security prowess, preparing Ireland for current and future challenges
