Personal Summary

Adrian Cronin is a finance and technology professional with extensive experience of transformational systems-led change projects in retail, manufacturing and the utility sectors. He is currently working in the Data Competency Centre of Gas Networks Ireland and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Managements Accountants. He has a BComm from UCC and extensive further qualifications in Software Engineering and Project Management. He has been an adjunct lecturer in the MTU since 2012.
He began his career in the UK in the retail industry before moving to ERP implementations in the materials management space in Ireland. He moved to the utility space to work on ERP and other large transformational projects. He qualified as a CIMA management accountant in 2010. He was selected to be part of the team that established a new water utility in Ireland. He was involved in the rollout of new business processes and systems across the utility.
He then worked at setting up the Innovation functions in the water and gas utilities before moving to his current role in the Data Competency Centre. He won the AI Project of the Year award 2024 for groundbreaking work on an GenAI project in the data and sustainability space.
He has a career-long interest in how systems driven change can improve performance at work. His current focus is on the application of GenAI in the workplace and he is working on several proof of concepts. He spoke from a practitioners perspective at the recent IAM2025 conference in Maynooth."
