The overall aim of the Cyber Security Academy is to encourage an interest in and awareness of cyber security careers through technical training. Students do not need to have any level of technical knowledge, as the exercises are designed to accommodate both complete beginners and students with existing technical knowledge. Cyber security is part of everyday life and business, and whether students pursue a college choice leading to cyber security or not, we hope that they enjoy this course and that it will serve them well into the future.
The course covers a range of technical cyber security topics, including cryptography, linux command line programming, penetration testing and the ethical hacker mindset. A Capture-the-Flag challenge at the end of the week brings all of these skills together, and students that complete the course are awarded a digital badge.
